Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze whether the Goiás Industrial Development Program (PRODUZIR) has influenced the concentration of investments in the sugarcane industry in the state of Goiás. In this context, the state has used tax exemption programs to stimulate The attraction of companies, especially sugar mills and distilleries. The work methodology was based on the bibliographic and data search of the Secretariat of Management and Planning of the state of Goiás. The results pointed to a trend of regional concentration of sugar mills and distilleries in the South Goian Meso-region that intensified from the decade of 2000. It was concluded that there was an economic concentration of the mills and distilleries in this mesoregion, since it received most of the investments Of sugarcane activity and, consequently, increased the degree of economic activity in this mesoregion through the PRODUZIR program in the state of Goiás.
