Abstract

This article deals with the importance of identifying individuals with High Skills / Giftedness and the current scenario of this area in Brazil. The gifted form a segment that is poorly understood and, in the vast majority of cases, neglected in the educational systems of Brazil. Adequate identification of gifted individuals, in order to provide them with the necessary means to benefit from and make their immense potential for achievement flow, is fundamental to the economic development and prosperity of any nation. The conclusion is that, in Brazil, due to a series of causes, only a tiny part of the gifted individuals, unfortunately, is identified by the School Census, which generates a huge waste of human capital and talents that do not receive proper specialized care.
