Quel choix des parents pour l'établissement éducatif de leurs enfants ? Le cas de l'enseignement secondaire à Madagascar

Abstract

A partir d'une enquête nationale conduite dans les collèges de Madagascar, nous analysons le choix des ménages parmi différentes catégories d'établissements disponibles. Ce que disent les ménages de leur choix est analysé puis ce qu'ils font dans les faits, notamment choisir un collège public ou une catégorie de privés, une catégorie de collège différente qu'au primaire, un établissement confessionnel d'une autre confession que la sienne ou encore un collège qui n'est pas le plus proche de chez soi. Nos résultats démontrent l'influence du revenu, de la religion et de la religiosité des ménages ainsi que de la distance du collège, son coût, ses taux de réussite aux examens et son caractère confessionnel.
