Abstract

De toute évidence, la chute du prix des matières premières observée depuis 2014 n'est pas une bonne nouvelle pour les pays producteurs, notamment africains. Alors que certains invoquent déjà la « malédiction des matières premières » pour expliquer la fragilité économique et politique qui peut découler d'une variabilité excessive du cours des produits de base, il convient de rappeler que la trajectoire de ces pays n'est en rien tracée. Celle-ci dépend largement du contexte macroéconomique dans lequel ils évoluent mais également de la qualité des politiques mises en œuvre pour contrer les effets négatifs de cette instabilité. Dans un contexte difficile qui perdurera probablement malgré le rebond observé en 2016, les pays producteurs devront relever de nombreux défis pour maintenir une trajectoire vertueuse tendant vers une plus grande diversification économique.
