Abstract

Cultural and creative activities play a key role within the context of globalisation, urban fragmentation and knowledge economy. These firms and associations are frequently concentrated in central former industrial districts. Their concentrations impact economic, social and urban dimensions of districts, and justify the use of the Proximity approach to understand what role they play in territorial dynamics. The Olivettes creative quarter is used as an illustration: it shows the transformation process from an industrial to a creative space. By this fieldwork, I examine the territorial dynamics linked to the proximity of cultural and creative firms in quarters (network of innovation, creativity, gentrification, resilience...).
