La thèse de la « classe créative » : entre limites et développements

Abstract

The creative class approach (Florida, 2002b) raised a great debate in regional science. Based on the importance of creativity in a knowledge-based economy, this approach renews the analysis of the economic role of cities by assuming that they must attract and organize a «creative class» in order to experience virtuous path of economic growth. Through a review of the preliminary research works conducted in the United States and a summary of debate and developments this approach generated, this paper proposes a comprehensive overview of the «creative class» approach to highlight the contribution it can represent to regional science despite some limitations.
