Abatement of agricultural pollution and economic incentives : the case of intensive livestock farming in France

Abstract

Parmi les différentes mesures possibles pour encourager la réduction de la teneur en nitrate dans l'eau, liée à l'élevage intensif, les auteurs proposent une taxation sur les nitrates. Cette proposition est le résultat d'une modélisation et de données de panel pour 100 exploitations agricoles d'élevage intensif. Pour chaque exploitation un seuil a été établi (unités-azote qui peuvent être épandues par hectare sans dommage) au dessus duquel il y a excès d'azote. Les 100 exploitations peuvent être classées en deux échantillons. La demande en azote est dérivée pour chaque sous-échantillon au moyen d'une approche duale. Les deux catégories sont ensuite regroupées et évaluées au moyen d'un modèle Tobit.
