Abstract

Le thème choisi pour cet ouvrage du colloque : "Repositionner les Universités Togolaises dans le Développement de l'Afrique", nous apparaît comme une évidence car l'Université est au cœur du développement. Les universités qui sont au sommet du processus éducatif ont un rôle essentiel à jouer dans le développement d'un pays africain ou européen . L'investissement le plus rentable en matière de développement est celui effectué sur les connaissance et compétences des populations. Développer, transmettre des connaissances et construire des compétences de mise en ouvre et les faire évoluer sont aussi les missions de nos universités. De fait, le développement économique ne nécessite pas seulement d'avoir des gens formés mais aussi des gens capables d'évoluer dans leur carrière; en clair l'université doit former des têtes bien faites autant que des têtes pleines. L'Université a toujours eu une perspective de moyen et long terme, elle forme aux savoirs et pas aux seules techniques ou aux seuls savoir-faire opérationnels. Par ailleurs, il faut toujours garder à l'esprit que la qualité des formations universitaires et l'apprentissage des outils fondamentaux sont des conditions essentielles de la bonne insertion professionnelle des étudiants.
