Un análisis descriptivo al perfil de los maestros del sector educativo oficial de Medellín

Abstract

Reconociendo la importancia del perfil docente en la calidad de la educación básica regular, el estudio describe y analiza algunas características de los maestros oficiales de la ciudad de Medellín (Colombia). Los resultados del análisis sugieren que: i) la carrera docente es esencialmente femenina y veterana; y ii) las maestras presentan un mayor grado de escalafón, experiencia docente y nivel educativo que sus similares hombres –lo que se traduce en mejores salarios. Esto implica que si bien el sector es meritocrático, es necesario generar mejores incentivos para los actuales maestros y para los estudiantes bachilleres (especialmente a los mejores), para así hacer más atractiva (y demandable) la carrera docente, y evitar un posible escenario deficitario de maestros no sólo en la ciudad sino también en el país
