Agricultural Input Use And Irrigation In Texas

Abstract

In this study, the effect of irrigation on agricultural input use in Texas is considered. Given theoretical and empirical considerations, Nan input expenditure function is specified which is easily estimable given periodically available agricultural county census data. The model also provides a framework for testing the general hypothesis that irrigation significantly alters the value marginal product (VMP) function for certain agricultural inputs.
