Abstract

Die Fachlaufbahn steht dafür, Mitarbeitenden, die keine Führungsverantwortung übernehmen möchten und daher nicht für eine klassische Karriere in Frage kommen, trotzdem Anerkennung, Geld und Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten im Unternehmen zu geben. Damit wird die Fachkarriere zu einem attraktiven Merkmal eines Unternehmens und trägt zu seiner "Employer Brand" bei. Inwieweit hängt die Akzeptanz einer Fachlaufbahn von der Motivierbarkeit dieser Mitarbeitenden und den Führungsstilen der Vorgesetzten ab? Um diese Frage zu beleuchten, betrachtet dieser Beitrag das Motivationsmodell von Barbuto und Scholl mit seinen intrinsischen und extrinsischen Motivationsquellen und bringt es in Zusammenhang mit Forschungsergebnissen aus einem mittelständischen Software-Unternehmen, in dem eine Fachlaufbahn gleichzeitig in einer transaktional und einer agil geführten Abteilung eingeführt wurde. Dazu wurden durch Interviews mit Führungskräften die Akzeptanzfaktoren und Nutzenerwartungen bezüglich einer Fachlaufbahn herausgearbeitet und mit einer standardisierten Umfrage bei den Mitarbeitenden des erwähnten Unternehmens getestet. Die erwarteten Unterschiede in der Motivierbarkeit der Mitarbeitenden aus den beiden unterschiedlich geführten Abteilungen konnten dabei nur teilweise bestätigt werden, was Auswirkungen auf die Empfehlungen zur Einführung der Fachkarriere hat.
