Stärkster BIP-Einbruch seit 1945. Die österreichische Wirtschaft im Jahr 2020

Abstract

Die COVID-19-Pandemie und die gesundheitspolitischen Maßnahmen zu ihrer Eindämmung prägten 2020 die Wirtschaftsentwicklung. In Österreich ging die Wirtschaftsleistung drastisch zurück. Am stärksten betroffen waren Tourismus, Verkehr, Handel, persönliche Dienstleistungen sowie Kultur- und Freizeiteinrichtungen. Auch der private Konsum war deutlich geringer als 2019. Die Ausweitung der Kurzarbeitsprogramme stützte die Beschäftigung und damit die Pro-Kopf-Einkommen aus unselbständiger Erwerbstätigkeit. Die COVID-19-Krise wirkte sich auch auf die Inflationsentwicklung aus: Unverarbeitete Nahrungsmittel und Dienstleistungen verteuerten sich, während Mineralölprodukte den Preisauftrieb dämpften.
