Abstract

Der Präsident der Europäischen Kommission Juncker und der Präsident der USA Trump verhindern vorläufig eine weitere Eskalation im Handelsstreit zwischen den USA und Europa. Das Freihandelsabkommen zwischen der EU und Japan (Economic Partnership Agreement) wird unterzeichnet. Die weltweit hohe Verschuldung, der Anstieg der Leitzinssätze, die Wirtschaftskrise in Argentinien und Venezuela und die Zunahme des Protektionismus im Welthandel bergen laut IWF, Weltbank und BIZ Risiken für die Weltwirtschaft. Die Europäische Union lehnt die Vorschläge des Vereinigten Königreiches für eine Regelung des Austrittes ab. Die Umsetzung der Wahlversprechen durch die neue italienische Regierung zieht eine Überschreitung der mit der Europäischen Kommission vereinbarten Obergrenze für die Neuverschuldung nach sich. Wegen Gefährdung des Rechtsstaates stimmt das Europäische Parlament für ein Strafverfahren gegen Ungarn. – Der österreichische Nationalrat verabschiedet das Arbeitszeitgesetz, nachdem gesichert ist, dass Beschäftigte die 11. und 12. Arbeitsstunde pro Tag nur freiwillig leisten müssen und bei Ablehnung nicht diskriminiert werden dürfen. Das neue Gesetz ermöglicht den 12-Stunden-Tag und die 60-Stunden-Woche als Maximalvariante.
