Abstract

Aufgrund der schwachen Konjunkturaussichten im Euro-Raum und der niedrigen Inflationserwartungen führt die EZB unkonventionelle Ankaufsprogramme ein und übernimmt Papiere mit erhöhtem Risiko in ihre Bilanz. Jean-Claude Juncker wird vom Europäischen Parlament als Präsident der Europäischen Kommission bestätigt. Der Europäische Rat wählt Donald Tusk zu seinem Präsidenten und Federica Mogherini zur Hohen Vertreterin der Union für Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik. Die schottische Bevölkerung lehnt eine Abspaltung vom Vereinigten Königreich Großbritannien und Nordirland ab. Kanada und die EU unterzeichnen das Freihandelsabkommen "Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement" (CETA). Es gilt als Mustervereinbarung für das Freihandelsabkommen TTIP. Nun muss es von den EU-Mitgliedsländern ratifiziert werden; allerdings zeichnet sich hier Widerstand ab. Auf den weiterhin eskalierenden Konflikt in der Ostukraine reagieren die EU und die USA mit Wirtschaftssanktionen gegen Russland. Russland verhängt in der Folge ein Verbot der Einfuhr von Agrarprodukten aus der EU, den USA, Kanada, Australien und Norwegen. – Österreich: Nach dem Rücktritt von Vizekanzler und Finanzminister Michael Spindelegger wird die Bundesregierung umgebildet. Vizekanzler wird Reinhold Mitterlehner, Finanzminister wird Johann Georg Schelling. Mit dem Sondergesetz zum Abbau der Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank International AG entscheidet sich der Nationalrat gegen die Konkurslösung. Das ESVG 2010 wird ab September 2014 von allen EU-Mitgliedsländern verpflichtend angewendet. Durch die Reklassifizierung des Staatssektors verändert sich der ausgewiesene Schuldenstand.
