Frauen im Spannungsfeld zwischen Mutterschaft und Erwerbstätigkeit

Abstract

In den beschäftigungspolitischen Leitlinien der EU ist die Erhöhung der Erwerbstätigkeit von Frauen als Ziel formuliert. Die Erreichung dieses Ziels ist u. a. wegen der künftigen demographischen Entwicklung bedeutsam. Obwohl die Erwerbsbeteiligung der Frauen langfristig steigt, ist insbesondere die Erwerbsneigung von Frauen mit Kindern nach wie vor deutlich niedriger als die von Männern. Sollen Anreize zur Steigerung der Frauenberufstätigkeit gesetzt werden, so gilt es jene Mechanismen zu berücksichtigen, die derzeit eine relative Schlechterstellung von Frauen auf dem Erwerbsarbeitsmarkt bewirken. Diese beeinflussen sowohl die Entscheidung von Frauen darüber, ein (weiteres) Kind in die Welt zu setzen, als auch das Ausmaß und die Struktur der Erwerbsbeteiligung von Müttern.
