Abstract

The authors of the study prove the necessity for issuing an urban strategy for the development of the territory of the country as a necessary document for the government of this field. A logical connection is made, and an interrelation is determined among demographic, economic and urban strategies for the thorough social-economic development of our country. The study concludes that the urban strategy can become a basis for updating the National Concept for Spatial Development. A proposition is made for the realization of a new administrative-territorial structuring of the country, based on the documents of the EU regarding regionalism. The authors consider that the regional development is a basis for the effective utilization of the urban strategy.
