Abstract

Cet article propose une analyse de la transition écologique entendue comme une nouvelle phase du capitalisme. En adoptant une démarche méso-régulationniste, nous concevons les processus de transition écologique comme résultant d’une confrontation de groupes d’acteurs hétérogènes. Nous nous focalisons sur le cas de la bioéconomie et ses promesses de substitution des ressources fossiles par des ressources renouvelables pour la production d’énergie et de biens alimentaires et non alimentaires. Nous discutons de sa contribution, en tant qu’espace méso-économique en construction, à la définition d’un capitalisme intégrant la contrainte écologique. À travers le cas de la France, nous identifions trois récits concurrents de la bioéconomie (bioéconomie de la biotechnologie, bioéconomie des bioraffineries et bioéconomie écologique) qui contribuent chacun à modeler l’espace méso de la bioéconomie. Ces récits, qui expriment une certaine vision du futur, sont en tension sur leur manière d’institutionnaliser les flux de matière et d’énergie et de concevoir l’ancrage territorial et l’avènement de la bioéconomie comme nouvelle industrie.
