Abstract

This article is referring to a study on the acceptance of contactless payment instruments in the Gennan retail market. lt aims to show limitations as well as to give different perspectives approaching contact less payment processes, by focusing on customers that are not elements of the group of early adopters of the technology. The requirements of services that are in need of a substantial amount of explanatory support and emphasizing on the inverse customer core group points at essential complementary and side effects of the sales process. The thereby generated surplus is for certain customers the decisive criterion to buy a service or product. A critical consideration of factors that encourage the acceptance of the contactless payment technology reveals therefore a point of view of certain customers that is in contrast to the commercial targets of the retail industry. The main difference will appear in the opposite positions of retailers and members of the invers customer core group towards the human-resource allocation. In the end it is an ethical consideration as well as a business one, to substitute human sales staff by vendor machines.
