Abstract

The effect of federal government revenue reform of 2013 in the real income of Mexican workers is quantified. Regard is taken of the wage clause of the collective contract of the Union of Workers of UNAM, in view of the leadership of such an institution in the decisions making of other organizations collective contracts, particularly those of the higher education system. The analysis focuses on two dimensions: the fall of national workers income on the GDP, and rising inflationary pressures for 2014. The findings pose new challenges to contracts collective bargaining, whose goal should be to increase Mexico's real wages up to the point of countries with similar level of development.
