Les facteurs de variation du capital d'exploitation engagé ne sont pas la longueur du cycle de production mais le niveau d'intensification (nombre d'UGB par ha SFP), le degré de modernisation et sa date de réalisation. Compte tenu de la faible trésorerie restant disponible pour la famille, le recours à un endettement croissant est devenu inévitable. On peut s'interroger sur les possibilités de réussir une nouvelle extensification avec ces systèmes et dans les zones défavorisées, à moins d'un changement considérable pour alléger l'ensemble des charges de structure.
