Abstract

This paper intends to perform an analysis of the evolution of main macroeconomic indicators registered by the Romanian economy in the period 2013-2017 (2015, 2016 and 2017 are prospective data supplied by the Romanian Government and the National Commission for Prognosis) with a final comparison between the year 2012 and 2017. In this regard, the work is considered as an extension of earlier research conducted by the author for 2005-2012, trying to capture whether there are changes, whether beneficial or not, that have occurred in the considered time frame. In this context there were processed some statistics data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, the National Prognosis Commission and Reports of the Ministry of Finance. Related research method is based on sets of tables and graphs that are able to illustrate the evolution of five indicators: GDP growth (GDP), the budget deficit, current account deficit, (these two latter measured as and a percentage of GDP), inflation and unemployment. At first there will be analyzed the five macroeconomic indicators and in the end of the work will be compared the macroeconomic stability determined by these indicators, using a tool called "macro stabilization pentagon", instrument also used in the previous research. Through this pentagon, a radar chart, in fact, our research will try to capture the evolution that can be seen in these indicators in a period of five years, between 2012 and 2017.
