Abstract

Due to rapidly changing and specific needs of customers, product life cycles shorten and the product varieties increase significantly in today's responsive manufacturing environment. Rapid design of new, good quality and innovative products and/or redesign of existing products without detailed design information as well as the needs to reduce product development time become more critical to maintain competitiveness in the market. Reverse Engineering (RE) approach can play promising roles to compress the product development times. This paper proposes a framework for the rapid response product development using RE approach and associated techniques.
