Estimación del trabajo reproductivo en Colombia: una aproximación desde los precios sombra

Abstract

Este artículo tiene como objetivo la estimación deltrabajo doméstico (reproductivo) en Colombia, realizadoal interior del hogar y su imputación equivalentea precios sombra, para lo cual se parte del enfoquede la Nueva Economía de la Familia desarrollado porBecker (1981; 1985) y la metodología de Heckman(1974; 1979). Dentro de los resultados de la presenteinvestigación se pudo concluir, a través de la técnicaeconométrica de fronteras estocásticas, que lashoras diarias por las que se maximiza el salario dereserva de la mujer en la cabecera municipal son de11,9; mientras que en el área rural son de 12,3, lo quedemuestra mayor competitividad de la mujer en lacabecera, frente al área rural. Por otra parte, las condicionesde vida de la ciudad (respecto a la crianzade los ninos) frente a las condiciones rurales, hacenque el costo de oportunidad de salir al mercado seamás alto que en el área urbana y, por lo tanto, inducea que se eleve el salario de reserva de la mujer.
