Abstract

In this paper, the concept of competitive power and spesicific ways and means of improving competitive powers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are discussed. A field study is conducted among selected SMEs from Eskiflehir machinery manufacturing and food processing industries. Competitive strengh of those firms in comparison to European Union firms are discussed. Even with limited sample sizes of 58, critical information is generated by careful utilization of statistical methods and procedures. The problems which are confronted by both national and international markets are handdled and these problems are compared with the advantages of the firms in this work. According to the results achieved, the competitive powers of the firms of both sectors are sustained.
