Abstract

Die Produktion von Automobilen sowie von Komponenten und Teilen ist weiterhin auf die Triade fortgeschrittener Industrieländer konzentriert. Dies sollte aber nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass auch in der deutschen Automobilindustrie ein intensiver "Wettbewerb von unten" herrscht, der zwei Ausprägungen annimmt: die Endfertigung im Ausland und das internationale Outsourcing von Vorleistungen. Dr. Peter Nunnenkamp, Institut für Weltwirtschaft, Kiel, zeigt in diesem Beitrag, dass die Auslandsproduktion und das Outsourcing gleichzeitig an Bedeutung gewinnen und dass beide Phänomene durch internationale Kostenunterschiede vorangetrieben werden. Auch durch die Antizipation der anstehenden EU-Osterweiterung haben sich die Vorleistungsverflechtungen stark intensiviert, und in der Endfertigung sind zunehmend Substitutionseffekte zu Lasten der Kfz-Exporte und der Inlandsproduktion aus bzw. in Deutschland zu beobachten. --
