Zur Lage am US-amerikanischen Arbeitsmarkt

Abstract

Im Zuge der Großen Rezession stieg die Arbeitslosigkeit in den Vereinigten Staaten stark an: im Jahr 2007 waren etwas über 7 Mill. Menschen arbeitslos, zwei Jahre darauf hatte sich die Zahl auf über 14 Mill. in etwa verdoppelt. Die Arbeitslosenquote stieg bis zum November 2009 auf 10 Prozent. In den Folgejahren sank sie kontinuierlich und lag Mitte des Jahres 2015 bei 5 Prozent, was in etwa dem Vorkrisendurchschnitt entspricht. Seitdem schwankt die Arbeitslosenquote bei knapp unter 5 Prozent - in etwa dort, wo das Haushaltsbüro des US-Kongresses die natürliche Arbeitslosenquote verortet.
