Abstract

Using principal component analysis (PCA) the paper made an attempt to assess the extent of inters district disparities in Haryana in terms of various indicators of development. Although in the absence of availability of reliable data District Human Development Index was not constructed but the available indicators suggests large inter-district disparities across the states. The poor states are characterised by low percentage of non-farm income in district domestic product, low rate of urbanization and low percentage of non-farm workers in total working population.
