[Towards a "knowledge economy". Can education reduce inequalities and increase social welfare?]

Abstract

Il bene meritorio “istruzione” svolge un ruolo fondamentale per lo sviluppo socioeconomico delle moderne economie: l’istruzione è in grado di diminuire le diseguaglianze e favorire la crescita economica. Le politiche comunitarie degli ultimi vent’anni sono state rivolte alla progettazione di modelli scolastici efficaci, che potessero avere delle ripercussioni sul mercato del lavoro. Dopo un’ampia disamina dei modelli di educazione implementati in 27 Paesi europei, il presente lavoro valuta l’effetto delle politiche a favore di una “economia della conoscenza” attraverso un’analisi di correlazione volta a verificare 13 ipotesi di ricerca per cinque cluster di Paesi. I risultati dell’analisi consentono di stimare la validità delle politiche attuate e suggerire degli scenari differenziati in ragione delle differenze geografiche, storiche, economiche e sociali.
