Abstract

The current paper aims to present some preliminary findings emerging from an explorative analysis performed in order to investigate the impact of the Earthquake that took place in Emilia in 2012 on retailing. Specifically, this work intends to analyze the retailers’ capabilities to react to a natural disaster. Into this perspective, we adopt the theoretical viewpoint of dynamic capabilities. This focus respond to the lack of extant literature on the topic in the retailing context. To reach the above goal, we employed a qualitative approach based on focus groups and semi-structured interviews to a sample of retailers hit by the Emilia 2012 Earthquake as techniques of investigation.
