Abstract

This working paper summarizes the evolution of the tobacco sector in Portugal, both from the perspective of the regime established by the government, and from the perspective of the entrepreneurs and firms that worked in the sector. This is the second working paper of a set started with working paper no. 68 on the railroad sector, with the final purpose of preparing a Business History of Portugal.
