Abstract

Ricardo pensait que les coûts de production de l'or déterminent la valeur des lingots. Say soutient, contre lui, que l'offre et la demande déterminent le prix de l'or et de l'argent aussi bien que la valeur des monnaies. Il construit ainsi une théorie monétire qui est plus proche que celle de Ricardo des interprétations que l'on donne aujourd'hui de la théorie quantitative de la monnaie
