La presencia creciente de Chine en el Caribe: el caso de República Dominicana

Abstract

La présence de la Chine dans la Caraïbe au cours des dernières décennies a progressivement changé de nature. À partir des effets cumulatifs résultant de l'accroissement de son implantation économique et de ses récents succès diplomatiques, la Chine défie l'influence des puissances traditionnelles dans la région, l'Europe et surtout les États-Unis. L'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre la République dominicaine et la Chine en 2018 constitue un tournant dans le processus d'implantation de ce pays dans la Caraïbe insulaire, car il s'agit du resserrement des liens avec un pays charnière, très inséré dans les réseaux commerciaux et financiers régionaux et globaux. Pour la République dominicaine s'ouvrent de perspectives favorables sur les plans économiques et de la politique étrangère même si la nouvelle donne peut générer des tensions avec les États-Unis.
