Quelques problèmes de choix d'échelles pour mesurer les attitudes chez les enfants

Abstract

Cet article se propose d'étudier de manière spécifique certains problèmes de mesure que pose l'utilisation d'échelles d'attitude lorsque l'on s'adresse à une population d'enfants. En prenant comme élément de référence deux construits dont la fidélité a déjà été démontrée auprès d'une telle population sur la base d'une échelle verbale en 4 points, plusieurs hypothèses ont ainsi été testées: 1. Une première série d'hypothèses suivant laquelle l'introduction d'un échelon central dans une échelle bipolaire symétrique consisterait en réalité à créer une échelle asymétrique avec une polarité positive en 3 points. 2. La validité convergente entre une échelle verbale en 4 points et une échelle en 4 points présentée sous forme de smiling faces. Si les résultats obtenus viennent confirmer la validité convergente des deux échelles en 4 points, ils conduisent par contre au rejet des autres hypothèses.
