Abstract

Réflexion du dirigeant de PME dans un contexte difficile : quelle place pour les valeurs personnelles de l'individu à la tête de l'entreprise ? Résumé Face aux défis que représente la mondialisation et aux impacts qu'elle a sur la structure de l'économie, de nombreuses entreprises se sont vues obligées d'ajuster de manière importante leur mode d'organisation, leur modèle d'affaires ou de licencier des employés voire même de cesser leurs opérations. Ces décisions qui influencent directement la performance des entreprises ne sont pas simples à prendre et de nombreux dirigeants ont eu à faire des choix «douloureux». Comment se font ces choix, qu'est-ce qu'ils impliquent pour le dirigeant et, comment ces choix sont-ils liés à la vision qu'il s'était donnée au moment de créer son entreprise ? Ce travail a pour objectif de comprendre comment les dirigeants de PME organisent leur réflexion face à la pression concurrentielle, principalement asiatique, avec en arrière-plan un conflit potentiel entre leurs valeurs personnelles. Grâce à l'analyse d'entrevues réalisées auprès de dirigeants de trois PME manufacturières du Québec, cette étude exploratoire permet de voir que le conflit entre les valeurs du dirigeant complique la décision stratégique à partir du moment où les stratégies habituelles ne sont plus suffisantes. Elle suggère que la stratégie finale mise en place passe par une réflexion personnelle que les dirigeants interrogés mènent seuls, pouvant leur occasionner une certaine détresse.
