La "figure de l'entrepreneur" est-elle absente de l'analyse économique?

Abstract

L'entrepreneur est souvent perçu comme un acteur clé pour appréhender la dynamique de la croissance. Pourtant, l'analyse néoclassique ne semble guère lui avoir accordé de place. Ni le risque, ni les asymétries d'information, ni même la possibilité d'inefficience dans le processus de production ne semblent permettre d'y faire apparaître la fonction spécifique de l'entrepreneur. Ce n'est que progressivement, en développant une analyse de l'innovation, que le courant néoclassique dominant a internalisé une « figure de l'entrepreneur » d'inspiration Schumpétérienne. Au passage, il en résulte une modification non marginale de l'approche de l'efficience du marché. Celle-ci ne peut plus être statique mais dynamique et impose une certaine tolérance à l'égard du pouvoir du marché dès lors qu'il est la contrepartie à la création de valeur par l'innovation.
