Les Conditions de Performativité du Discours Stratégique Analyses et apports d'Austin, Searle, Butler et Callon

Abstract

À l'heure où le discours sur le changement est omniprésent dans les sphères économiques, sociétales et organisationnelles, à quelles conditions un discours porté par une direction générale est-il à même d'en produire ? L'objectif de cette recherche est de déterminer les différentes conditions donnant au discours stratégique sa performativité, autrement sa capacité à produire un effet. Il s'agit de mettre en lumière ce qui permet à un discours stratégique d'induire le changement qu'il décrit, renvoyant par-là à la dimension délibérée de la stratégie, mais également des changements inattendus, renvoyant par-là à sa dimension émergente. Nous convoquons et analysons les conceptions de la performativité portées tour à tour par Austin et Searle, puis Butler et enfin Callon, conceptions que nous illustrons au travers des travaux récents portant sur les effets des discours stratégiques. Cette réflexion met à jour des différences significatives dans les définitions et conditions de performativité du discours. En soulignant l'importance des conditions requises pour qu'un discours produise un effet, cette recherche révèle finalement la relative fragilité du discours stratégique.
