Abstract

ISO 9001 quality management standard is a control tool. It is based on the PDCA cycle to improve the organization's processes. The next version of the standard comes into force in September 2015. The standard evolves with five new trends in order to take account better the performance. Developments of ISO 9001 interrogate its status of control tool and the appropriate framework for understanding it. This is essential to contribute to a better understanding of the standardization phenomenon and its implications for organizations (Boiral 2012). Research based on a documentary method aims to examine the draft ISO standard 9001 version 2015. The performance management systems (PMS) framework of Ferreira and Otley (2009) is particularly appropriate for understanding the ISO 9001: 2015. Eleven of the twelve issues of the framework of PMS are covered by ISO 9001: 2015. The ISO 9001: 2015 refers to a management and control systems of performance.
