Abstract

Se basant sur diverses caractŽristiques de lÕŽthique aristotŽlicienne (rŽalisme moral, essentialisme internaliste et universalisme contextuel), lÕarticle dŽfinit les finalitŽs du dŽveloppement Žconomique comme un ensemble ouvert et incomplet de diffŽrentes composantes incommensurables. Cette incomplŽtude et incommensurabilitŽ posent de sŽrieux problmes en matire de choix et dÕŽvaluation de ces finalitŽs en termes de justice internationale. Ces problmes, loin dÕtre surmontŽs par une rŽduction quantitative des composantes de la qualitŽ de vie et une universalisation de ces mesures, se doivent dÕtre abordŽs par une approche dŽlibŽrative de la rationalitŽ, laissant place ˆ une Žvaluation contextuelle et normative des finalitŽs ˆ poursuivre. LÕarticle propose une approche aristotŽlicienne du dŽveloppement humain, cÕest-ˆ-dire un dŽveloppement Žconomique orientŽ vers une pluralitŽ de finalitŽs incommensurables dŽfinies ˆ partir de la nature humaine, et animŽ par une rationalitŽ pratique impliquant une perception contextuelle ainsi quÕune dŽlibŽration normative quant aux finalitŽs ˆ poursuivre ayant pour horizon lÕaccomplissement des potentialitŽs de la nature humaine.
