Abstract

Cet article montre que dans le cadre dÕun modle dÕappariement, la coexistence dÕemplois de durŽes du travail diffŽrentes peut sÕexpliquer par des intensitŽs capitalistiques propres ˆ certaines activitŽs. les firmes sont supposŽes financer seules le capital nŽcessaire ˆ la production si bien quÕun phŽnomne de hold up liŽ aux nŽgociations salariales apparait. Lorsque la prospection dÕemploi des travailleurs (homognes ex ante) nÕest pas dirigŽe, ce phŽnomne engendre du travail ˆ temps partiel contraint. En outre, la proportion dÕemplois ˆ temps partiel et le nombre dÕemplois total socialement efficaces sont incompatibles ˆ lÕŽquilibre du laissez faire. Aussi, taxer plus lourdement (ou subventionner moins fortement) les emplois ˆ temps partiel relativement aux emplois ˆ temps complet permet dÕamŽliorer lÕefficacitŽ Žconomique. Nos rŽsultats ont dÕautant plus de chances dÕtre vŽrifiŽs que les biens produits sur des postes caractŽrisŽs par des temps de traail diffŽrents sont complŽmentaires et ils sont gŽnŽralement prŽservŽs lorsque lÕhypothse de parfaite spŽcificitŽ du capital est levŽe.
