Notas sobre la Demografía del COVID-19 en Argentina

Abstract

Este documento analiza desde una perspectiva demográfica los datos del COVID-19 en Argentina. Luego de 3 meses de detectado el primer caso en el país, el número de confirmados supera los 17mil y se han producido más de 550 defunciones adjudicadas a esta enfermedad. Para el análisis Se utilizaron diversas fuentes de datos, aunque el origen de toda la información es el Ministerio de Salud de la Nación. Las conclusiones fundamentales son: una gran selectividad del virus en lo que hace a mortalidad y contagio por sexo y edad, un aumento en el número de casos positivos y un importante control de la mortalidad. La edad es un predictor muy preciso de la mortalidad y los condicionantes sociales afectan más la morbilidad femenina que la masculina y la mortalidad masculina pero no la femenina. La Argentina estaría muy próxima a alcanzar el máximo diario de defunciones y hacia octubre del presente año podría esperarse que alcance el máximo acumulado. El pronóstico acerca de los casos positivos es mucho menos preciso y dependerá crucialmente de las medidas que se adopten en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, y en las provincias de Buenos Aires y Chaco
