Was Menschen Bewegt, Lebensmittel Aus Dem Müll Zu Holen: Eine Explorative Studie Zum Containern

Abstract

Große Mengen Nahrungsmittel werden in genusstauglichem Zustand durch den Lebensmitteleinzelhandel (LEH) im Müll entsorgt. Die sogenannte Container-Szene hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, diese aussortierten Lebensmittel zu verwerten. „Containern“ (auch „Dumpstern“ oder „Mülltauchen“) bezeichnet demnach eine Handlung, bei der Müllcontainer nach noch verzehrbaren Nahrungsmitteln durchsucht werden. Die Szene verzeichnet einen verstärkten Zulauf von überwiegend jungen Menschen. Bislang ist wenig über die genauen Motive der beteiligten Personen bekannt. Dieser Beitrag explorativen Charakters beschäftigt sich daher mit der individuellen Motivation der Göttinger MülltaucherInnen, die in leitfadengestützten Interviews zu ihren Container-Aktivitäten befragt wurden. Es zeigt sich, dass eigennützige Beweggründe, wie z.B. die finanzielle Ersparnis, nur eine untergeordnete Rolle für die Interviewten spielen. Hauptmotive sind, die Öffentlichkeit und das persönliche Umfeld für das Thema Lebensmittelverluste zu sensibilisieren sowie an den LEH zu appellieren, die Verluste zu verringern. Ferner spielt die direkte Reduktion der Verluste, das ‚Retten‘ der Lebensmittel, eine Rolle. Die qualitativen Ergebnisse werden vor dem Hintergrund der bisher vorhandenen Literatur zur Container-Szene diskutiert und eine Verknüpfung zu gesellschaftlichen Bewegungen allgemein sowie zur Solidarischen Landwirtschaft hergestellt.
