The Search for an Optimal U.S. Agricultural Water Quality Policy

Abstract

A generalized total systems model of agricultural production and water quality is outlined. Contributions of economists to the components of the system are reviewed. Economic investigation has been fragmented, but a few weak generalizations can be made. Generalization for policy will require comparisons between many large-scale models, rather than any single optimization.
