Abstract

@The increasingly scanty range of economic, social and technical infrastructure available in rural areas is regarded here as one example of impairment of the principle of parity of living conditions. To take one example, it can be assumed that businesses in rural areas will suffer in both qualitative and quantitative terms as these infrastructure assets become less easily accessible. This paper focuses on the private sector and specifically on banking. It considers whether businesses located in rural areas are suffering from restricted access to financial products as an effect of the continuous retreat of many banks from rural areas.
