Abstract

As economies grow, become more complex, and develop international interdependences, labour comes to play a larger role in political and economic affairs. Regardless of national economic objectives, or of the way in which labour and management relate to these objectives, the activities of industrial relations systems are inevitably of growing concern to national and international economic policy. Such developments are reflected in the content of industrial relations research.
