Abstract

Este capítulo explora algunas de las probables consecuencias económicas de los cambios tecnológicos durante los próximos cincuenta años. El análisis se centra en aquellos cambios altamente probables de acuerdo al estado de la investigación y desarrollo científicos de hoy. He restringido mi atención a aquellos avances técnicos que ya cuentan con prototipos que podrían ser desarrollados y comercializados antes del 2030. Asimismo, he supuesto que los beneficios tecnológicos son conocidos y experimentados de manera uniforme por la población, para evitar la discusión sobre diferencias en el acceso y uso de la nueva tecnología. Las fuentes principales de mi lectura sobre los posibles avances técnicos son los trabajos de Kaku (2008, 2011), Brockman (2011) y Kurzweil (2005).
