Regionalpolitische Strategien für das Waldviertel

Abstract

Das Waldviertel im Nordosten Österreichs an der Grenze zu Tschechien zählt zu den Gebieten mit ausgeprägten Strukturnachteilen: Ungünstige natürliche Bedingungen erschweren die landwirtschaftliche Produktion und die Entwicklung von attraktiven Tourismusangeboten. Lange Verkehrswege zu den Zentralräumen um Wien und Linz hemmen den Anschluss an dynamische Industriestandorte. Die über Jahrzehnte unterbrochenen Wirtschaftsbeziehungen zum nördlichen Nachbarn müssen erst aufgebaut und verstärkt werden. In diesem Umfeld kommt der regionalen Standortpolitik eine wichtige Aufgabe zu. Durch Verbesserung der Infrastruktur, Ausbau der Bildungseinrichtungen und ein umfassendes Bündel von Programmen zur Stärkung des endogenen Wachstumspotentials wurden bereits vielfältige Maßnahmen gesetzt. Die vorliegende Studie liefert in einer integralen Sicht Ansatzpunkte für eine zukunftsorientierte Entwicklungsstrategie.
