Abstract

Este libro introduce la dimensión espacial en el análisis económico, distinguiendo conceptualmente espacio físico de espacio social. La unidad de ambos, bajo ciertas condiciones históricas, da lugar a la existencia de regiones, mientras que su dinámica ha ocasionado en el Perú un desarrollo de economías regionales en lugar de un desarrollo nacional unificado. Dentro de este problema la idea de la regionalización aparece como una alternativa para corregir el desarrollo regional desigual. El libro discute los criterios existentes sobre regionalización y plantea, en base a un análisis teórico y empírico de la Economía Política, la existencia de cuatro tipos de regiones en el Perú, originados por el desarrollo capitalista. Termina anotado las características y limitaciones regionales de dicho desarrollo.
