Abstract

An innovative thinking about the human condition, Mahbub ul Haq shaped the development philosophy of the world during the last four decades of the 20th century. This intellectual biography about the evolution and policy influence of Haq's thinking comprises essays by some of his intellectual partners and colleagues at various stages of his career. The volume traces the evolution of Haq's ideas on the linkage of economic growth, people's well-being and poverty alleviation. It further evaluates the influence of his intellectual legacy on today's global development agenda.
