Abstract

I never wanted the approach of this paper to be a scientific one, but a pragmatic one addressed to those who are at the beginning of their career in a hospital, but also to those who already have experience and want to know the opinion of a colleague, because experience after experience gives birth to new ideas that help us to be helpful to others. My opinion is that the presence of the clinical psychologist in hospital institutions is mandatory, regardless of the specialty of the ward or hospital; the main argument I make is that any condition, any disease – whether acute or chronic, whether we are talking about trauma or terminal illness – is a life event often with a wide resonance both in the life of the patient and their family.
