Energieversorgung und Umweltschutz in den EU-Beitrittsländern

Abstract

Beim Primärenergieverbrauch sowie bei der Kraftwerksstruktur hat die Kohle in den mittel- und osteuropäischen Beitrittsländern eine starke Stellung. Zusammen mit überholungsbedürftigen Kernkraftwerken ergibt sich ein nennenswertes Modernisierungspotenzial. Wenngleich die Beitrittsländer ihre Reduktionsverpflichtungen im Rahmen des Kyoto-Protokolls – vor allem wegen des wirtschaftlichen Einbruchs in den neunziger Jahren – mehr als erfüllt haben, zeigen sich mit Blick auf die CO2-Emissionen und den Primärenergieverbrauch je Produktionseinheit deutliche Effizienzlücken im Vergleich zur bisherigen Europäischen Union. Die daraus resultierenden kapitalintensiven Modernisierungserfordernisse eröffnen in Mittel- und Osteuropa neue Absatzmärkte für umwelttechnische Unternehmen.
